PADI Drift Diver Program
Through the PADI Drift Diver course program, you will gain the right knowledge about:
- The difference between water currents;
- Origins and effects of water currents;
- Techniques for staying the right distance from your buddy or group during drift dives;
- Use of diving equipment specific to drift diving;
- Buoyancy control during drift dives.
The experience is divided into two main stages:
- Knowledge development (independent study and classroom sessions);
- Two open water dives to put the drift diving skills you’ve learned into practice.
Prerequisites
- Be a (Junior) Open Water Diver;
- Be at least 12 years of age.
Credit/Certification PADI Drift Diver
Once you complete the course, not only will you learn to use the diving equipment specific to drift diving, but you will also receive your PADI Drift Diver specialty certification. Some dive centers and dive sites require a Drift Diver certification in order to do drift dives. This certification can also be credited as an adventure dive for your PADI Adventure Diver or PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course.
