The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course is part of‚ together with the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course‚ the Instructor Development Course (IDC)‚ essential for anyone aspiring to become a PADI Instructor.

PADI Assistant Instructor Program

During the PADI Assistant Instructor course at Evasioni Blu Diving Ustica – Palermo (Sicily)‚ you will get the chance to approach the world of teaching and develop all the skills useful for becoming an instructor.

The PADI Assistant Instructor course consists of six main phases:

Knowledge development (online with individual study or in the classroom) and diving theory;

The use of PADI standards and the PADI Instructor Manual;

Practical sessions where you will practice your aquatic and rescue skills;

Practical classroom teaching sessions and academic presentations;

Practical teaching sessions in confined water;

Practical teaching sessions in open water.

Specifically‚ you will learn:

How to teach the theory;

How to present diving skills during confined water and open water lessons;

How to assess students’ surface skills under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor;

How to teach and certify the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty under the direct supervision of a PADI instructor;

How to teach the PADI Project Aware Specialist course and the PADI Aware Coral Reef Conservation course;

How to conduct a Discover Scuba Diving in confined water;

How to conduct a SealTeam AquaMission;

How to use and apply the standard procedures of these courses.

Prerequisites

Be a PADI Divemaster for at least 6 months;

Hold the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) certification issued within the previous 24 months;

Hold a medical certificate;

Have completed at least 60 logged dives at the start of the course and at least 100 to access the Instructors Exam (IE).

Credit/Certification PADI Assistant Instructor

After completing the PADI Assistant Instructor course‚ you can request your certificate‚ which will allow you to:

Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor;

Conduct initial training in confined water;

Teach and certify the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course;

Teach and certify the PADI Project AWARE course and the PADI Project AWARE Coral Reef Conservation course;

Conduct PADI Discover Scuba Diving experiences in a pool or confined water;

Conduct PADI Seal Team AquaMissions.
