PADI/DAN Basic Research Diver Program
Here is what you will learn during your PADI/DAN Basic Research Diver course:
- The mission of the Diver Alert Network (DAN)
- List the most common diving accidents and understand their pathophysiology
- Understand what the Diver Safety Guardian is and how to use it
- What Citizen Science is and how you can contribute
- The importance of Marine Protected Areas
- Learn how to collect scientific data for research using two of the following protocols: PADI AWARE Dive Against Debris‚ Sea Sentinel or MPA-ENGAGE
The PADI DAN Basic Research Diver course is divided into three main parts:
- Knowledge development (individual study and in class)
- Three workshops in class and confined water
- Two open water dives collecting scientific data using two different Citizen Science protocols
PADI/DAN Basic Research Diver Prerequisites
- Be an Adventure Diver;
- Being at least 15 years old.
Credit/Certification PADI/DAN Basic Research Diver
By completing your course you will receive your PADI DAN Basic Research Diver certification‚ which will allow you to continue independently conducting Citizen Science investigations in Dive Marine Biology and DAN Research.
